Sri Lankan Woodpecker Bellanwila

Usually considered to be a fast moving bird that cannot stay still for too long, this gorgeous woodpecker provided just the sufficient window to get a few clicks off him. Enjoy and please do share with your friends 

Pretty Insect

Another type of bug that was hanging around in our back yard. Just realized that we tend to overlook these small beauties... Or, wonder whether we get distracted by the larger creatures the nature has to offer. Enjoy and pass on, share... thanks.. 

Sri Lankan Hawk in Attidiya

The Sri Lankan Hawk - well I got one in my own back yard which is close to the Bellanwila / Attidiya bird sanctuary. This wilderness promotes natural habitat to many species of birds, fish and other small animals and could be visited any day of the year. To my knowledge this bird is called Gurulu Goya / Kurulu Goya in Singhala and does feed on other varieties of small birds apart from the insects, fish and worms found around it's habitat. Green Beetle of Sri Lanka

Funnily, my kid managed to see this small exotic looking green beetle one afternoon and luckily, it stayed on till I got my Camera. The blessing was that the Camera had just enough charge for me to capture the beauty of the creature and it did not fly away though I got quite close to get the shots..

Surathalee Alla- Belihuloya !

Was lucky to get an opportunity to visit the Surathalee Ella in Belihuloya during a quick official visit I had to make. Indeed was gorgeous and a rare sight. This Sri Lankan Waterfall is quite narrow at the top and spreads after it reaches it's second layer. The walk from Main road is a mere 50 meters through lush forest cover which is gorgeous.

Hence, recommend you hoping off the vehicle (after say 10 km after passing Belihuloya rest house - 3 km from Uni of Sabaragamuwa Junc) and have a look - This was during the dry season, so guess there will be more volume of water during rainy season.
